Thünen Museum Tellow

Thünen Museum Tellow

On the outskirts of Mecklenburg Switzerland, near Teterow, lies the Thünen Museum in Tellow, a former estate that has been meticulously converted into an open-air museum. Until the mid-19th century, this farm village was the center of Johann Heinrich von Thünen’s (1783–1850) work.

Thünen was an internationally recognized economist and exemplary farmer. Among other things, he developed an important theory of agricultural location with his “Thünen Circles.” The Thünen Museum Tellow houses the Thünen Memorial and serves as the headquarters of the Thünen Society.

Learn about the history of agriculture in this region and tour the manor house with its outbuildings, barns, stables, and a small petting zoo.
