The Path to the Future

Funded Projects

Upgrading Key Public Transportation Hubs with DFI Displays

The European Union and the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are supporting rebus in the installation of five additional dynamic passenger information displays (DPI displays) in the Rostock district and in the Hanseatic City of Rostock.

In addition to providing better passenger information, the goal is to highlight existing connections and transfer options in a simple, easy-to-understand, and real-time manner, thereby facilitating access to public transportation. Great importance is also placed on accessibility in the form of a text-to-speech function, ensuring that the information is also available to passengers with visual impairments

The five DFI displays installed as part of this initiative are located at the following stops:

  • Bützow: “Bahnhof”
  • Güstrow: “Werner-Seelenbinder-Straße”
  • Rostock: “Steintor / IHK”
  • Sanitz: “ZOB”
  • Bad Doberan: “Buchenberg”

This project was co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Operational Program 2014–2020—Investments in Growth and Employment.

The funding guideline is coordinated by NOW GmbH and implemented by Projektträger Jülich (PtJ).

The project is also co-financed by the Rostock district with additional funds of approximately 1.8 million euros annually.

The following are being funded:

  • 52 Solaris hydrogen buses
  • 2 hydrogen refueling stations
  • Workshop retrofitting

Modernization of an Accessible Central Bus Station in the Hanseatic City of Rostock

The European Union and the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are supporting rebus in the modernization and accessible redesign of the ZOB in the Hanseatic city of Rostock.

As part of this project, the ZOB is being renovated to ensure accessibility. At the same time, the drainage system is being completely rebuilt to prevent flooding on days with heavy rainfall. The bus stops will be completely replaced with modern passenger shelters featuring green roofs, and a new main stop will be established with a modern passenger information display and a city information kiosk.

For the first time, there will also be ticket vending machines. The public spaces will be significantly enhanced with attractive landscaping and seating, a playground, and two bicycle shelters. The construction project will be rounded out by a completely new lighting concept that significantly reduces light pollution.

This project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund. Operational Program Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 2014–2020—Investments in Growth and Employment.
